Canadian Arab Women's Association (CAWA)
Dear CAWA Community,
Spring is here and with it comes the opportunity for growth and new beginnings. As we reflect on the hard work that has been accomplished over the winter, we are excited to announce some of the upcoming programs and initiatives that we have planned for the spring and beyond.
We are proud to offer our Mother to Mother program, which provides support and educational resources for pregnant women and new mothers with a child under two years old. Guest speakers are invited to discuss parenting and maternal and infant health, and provide educational advice to facilitate women’s motherhood journeys. Additionally, the program serves as a space of social and emotional support for newcomers and refugees. It is funded by United Way Waterloo Region Communities. This program is offered in partnership with Breastfeeding Buddies, and Greenway Chaplin Community Centre. For more information or to register, please contact Hala at: halaalzain@cawakw.ca
Our Strong Families Together program aims to raise awareness about domestic violence, and educate Arab women about resources in the community. The program covers topics like parenting, healthy relationships, and family law. It is funded by the Canadian Women’s Foundation. This program is offered in partnership with Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. For more information or to register, please contact Wardah at: wardahalnunu@cawakw.ca or Dina at: dinaeldeeb@cawakw.ca
Economic Integration Of Canadian Women Located in Waterloo Region & Guelph is our employment program that prepares Arabic-speaking women for the Canadian job market. The program focuses on practical skills like creating a resume, preparing for an interview, and educating women on their rights in the workplace and Canadian work culture. It is funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada and Immigration Partnership. This program is offered in partnership with Dress for Success Canada Foundation. Please see attached flyer for more information. For more information or to register, please call Mary Saleh at 226-899-3130 or email her at: marysaleh@cawakw.ca
