To continue to support the work that we do, the Agency is looking for a full-time Finance Director to join our Finance team.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Director is responsible for the strategic and tactical planning of all financial operations at the Agency. This includes oversight for financial and risk management objectives, ongoing development of financial strategy, monitoring of control systems and reporting accurate financial results. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring these areas are aligned with the business objectives of Family and Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region. The Finance Director is a member of the Leadership Team and acts as a resource to the Board and its Committees and is a key liaison with municipal, provincial and community-based funders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Professional Accounting Designation (Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or Certified General Account)
- University Degree in Finance, Business Administration or other similar field of study
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressively responsible roles, preferably with experience in Child Welfare or other high-profile, high-risk, not-for-profit organization
- Advanced knowledge of legislation governing accounting, payroll, privacy, security and confidentiality, the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) and Ministry guidelines
- An advanced knowledge and use of accounting software such as Navision/Oracle in all accounting functions, reporting, etc.
- An advanced knowledge of Agency and Children’s Aid Society (CAS) industry computer applications including CPIN and MS Office considered an asset
Employment at Family & Children's Services of the Waterloo Region is conditional upon the verification of credentials and employment, a satisfactory police check, and a satisfactory Child Welfare check.
Salary Range: $105,769.36 - $133,354.58 per annum (Management & Excluded, Grade 16)
Hours of Work: 34 hours per week
