National Day of Mourning in Canada
April 28th marks the National Day of Mourning in Canada. It is not only a day to remember and honour those lives lost or injured due to a workplace tragedy, but also a day to collectively renew our commitment to improve health and safety in the workplace and prevent further injuries, illnesses and deaths. The Day of Mourning, also known as Workers' Memorial Day, is officially recognized in about 100 countries worldwide.
The Agency would like to acknowledge the essential work being done by our employees. Collectively, we have worked hard to ensure health and safety concerns are at the forefront of discussions and planning. We encourage all staff to continue identifying potential hazards and to work closely with supervisors, directors, Human Resources and our Joint Health and Safety Committee on mitigation strategies.
